Mirror type relations are used in questions containing an Alphabet Line.

Relationship between letters

In mirror type questions, letters are related by their position in the alphabet.

A goes with Z (A is 1 from the start of alphabet, Z is 1 from end of alphabet)

B goes with Y (B is 2 from the start of alphabet, Y is 2 from end of alphabet)

C goes with X (C is 3 from the start of alphabet, X is 3 from end of alphabet)

D goes with W (D is 4 from the start of alphabet, W is 4 from end of alphabet)

and so on...

Helpful Tips

It is a good idea to remember the pairs of letters which go together in order to spot these question types quickly. Start by writing the alphabet forwards and backwards one under the other like this...

letters which appear in the same column go together (mirror images of each other in the alphabet)

You may want to make up silly mental images to help you remember the pairs. For example, A and Z could be remembered by thinking of [A]ngry [Z]ebras. Sounds silly but this Memory Technique has proven successful with many people.
