Hi! My son is struggling with type 6 questions in verbal reasoning! He is unable to identify the right pattern and takes a lot of time to find the answer....please help!!!

Is he okay with the Type 5 questions? They are very similar.

I'll try and give you some tips on this one next week. I would do it now but my posts tend to go on a bit and I really must dash - it's Friday afternoon afterall.......

My advice on this type of question may take some time to read - but if you can understand it it will make answering them a lot quicker and you will make less mistakes.

Hi Oldskool, Thanks for the type 6 "cheats". Don't you just love multiple choice? So many questions can be answered more easily using this process of elimination and saving heaps of time. My DS is stuck on doing things "properly" and I'm showing him these ways of making life easier but he's more prepared to accept the advice if it comes from anywhere other than me!

I still remember 30 odd years ago I was given similar advice on exam technique from our fantastic Maths teacher. Something he always used to say and which stuck was that "lazy people make the best mathematicians because they always look for the easiest way to solve the problem"
