11+ exams in Birmingham and walsall 1 year, 5 months ago #3108

Hi, my DD is going to sit the 11+ exams for King Edwards Grammer school in Birmingham and also Queen Marys in Walsall. I understand that University of Durham sets their exams. Can anyone pls advice or recommend what books i can use to coach her as i have no clue.

Hi Paula,

You really need to find out from the school themselves. It could be Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal, Maths, English or some combination of these.

You need to focus on the subjects she will be tested on and only the schools or the LEA can help you there. They should be able to give you a old test paper.

From there you can plan what you need to cover.

Thanks Karma, the subjects are non verbal reasoning,verbal reasoning,maths and english and the exam is in October. I am made to understand that the method of testing in this schools are new and they are set by CEM university of Durham so not much help with past questions. Can you recommend any books pls?

It sounds like you have a lot to cover in a short space of time but there are more than enough resources on this website alone.

There are a lot of worksheets and exercises for the various types of questions you might expect in the test right here. I'd recommend going through these first before tackling loads and loads of test papers (also available here).

If you get through that little lot before October you are doing well but Chuckra do sell more test papers and other relevant aids too.

you could use alpha and bond assessment papers.Also you could use secondary papers
