One of the things I've noticed as an 11+ tutor is to never assume something is too easy for a child. You would think that by the age of 10 a child would be reasonable at arithmetic but this is often not the case. The other day I taught a 'grammar school material' boy who sti11 used his fingers to count. By the time he'd reached finger eleven it was clear something needed to change.
This is an extreme case I know, but most kids can do with a bit of exercise in the mental arithmetic department and luckily chuckra is at hand to help. In the online courses section there are some arithmetic quizzes. Some are simple but the idea is to do them as quickly as your mouse finger a11ows.
