2009 Chuckra 11+ Mock Test E - VR, NVR & Maths
The first of the Chuckra 11+ Mock Test Days took place a few
days ago. The results have been standardised and are making their way
back to anxious parents as I type. So how did the kids do? Actually,
not very well! Apart from a couple of good performances, averages were
significantly down from last year. I'll tell you why I think this
happened below but first a summary of the results...

The NVR paper must have been a tricky one as the highest score was
only 80%. Nobody got full marks on any of the papers but 95% and 94% on
VR and Maths are very respectable results and show that the brighter
students are capabale of scoring highly on those papers.
Notice the average scores range from 66% to 74%. Last year the
average result for VR was 88%. There is no need to panic yet though.
The factors contributing to the low scores are...
- First-timers.
Some of the children were new to 11+ preparation. They were using the
mock tests to see how much work is needed in order for them to pass (Evidently, lots!
)
- Nerves.
This was the first of the mock test sessions. We found that last year
students' scores improved with each mock test session as they became
more accustomed to the exam environment.
- Last year's mocks were later in the year meaning that the children had had more time to improve their speed and accuracy.
So for most of the people who took the tests I recommend more practice!
There is still plenty of time so don't panic. Here are some good
resources to aid your preparation...

| Mock Test Days |
|
Each year we hold 11+ mock test days. Here are some of the main reasons to attend:
-
Realistic tests held under strict exam conditions
-
Brand new test papers to ensure your child has no prior access to the questions
-
Papers marked and returned to you by post
-
Statistics to show how your child performed compared to all the other children
-
Most importantly, a chance to overcome 'exam day nerves'
Please note: details of the mock tests are on the Chuckra Tuition website (not chuckra.co.uk).
