| 11+ Practice - the mood is changing |
|
In the past, parents would deny their child is practising for the 11 plus exams and schools frowned upon the concept of 11+ preparation.
Tutor? What tutor?Parents would go to great lengths to hide the fact that their children were practising for the 11+ exam. They kept tutors and other 11+ resources very secret in the hope that their child would have the slight advantage. Schools still try to say that coaching or extra practice has no impact on results. To put it politely, that's just rubbish!
Things are changingThe mood amongst parents now seems to have changed. It's no secret that most children are doing some form of practice these days. Even those parents who were initially reluctant to pressure their kids have decided 'If you can't beat them...join them'. This is a good thing because if everybody practises, the test is fair. Schools should face the reality, accept that they can't stop people practising for these exams and therefore let EVERYBODY practise. 11+ practice materials should be free for everyone. |
