Why?

Quite simply, the current 11 plus exam in not a fair test. Here are some of the reasons why... 

• Many children are spending months or even years preparing for the exams, even though this is frowned upon by schools.
• Some parents cannot afford the thousands of pounds which has become the norm for 11 plus practice materials and tuition.

• Some parents do not take a very active role in their child's education. This can lead to talented students not living up to their full potential.

Being in the 11 plus arena, it's sometimes easy to forget that there are many parents out there who are actually not aware that other students are practising so intensely for the 11 plus exams. Even if money is no object, finding the good practice materials from the plethora available is becoming more and more challenging.

If EVERYBODY has access to thousands of free quality 11 plus questions and advice then the test is fair. That is why we are providing all of our verbal reasoning, non verbal reasoning, eleven plus maths and english questions for free. In addition to practice tests, we have thousands of exercises to help boost core skills.

Believe me, the current system is not a test of intelligence or suitability to attend a Grammar School. It is about how quickly a child can perform a specific set of question types. We have seen - how can I say this - less bright children pass the 11 plus exams simply because they have practised and practised the question types likely to appear in the 11 plus exam. Don't fall into the trap of thinking your child will pass easily because 'He is bright' or 'She is top of the class'. It doesn't always work that way!

How can I help out?

You can actually help make the 11 plus exam a fair test by spreading the word about our site. Now 11 plus questions are free. The more people you tell the better chance there is of the exam becoming a fair one.

What is the catch?

There is no catch. The free 11 plus practice papers we provide are genuinely free.

How do I know the papers are relevant for my area?

Our tests follow nfer (now GL Assessment) based exam formats. Please check with your LEA (local education authority), the exact format of the tests your child will be taking. As of writing this, our verbal reasoning tests are valid for many of the entrance exams for schools in:

Buckinghamshire (Bucks)

Essex

Hertforshire (Herts)

Kent

Wiltshire (Wilts)

Wirral

Surrey 

Some sites say that you do not need to practise all the question types for some of the above areas. We recommend that you do, because there is no guarantee that the test will not contain all of the question types this year. Your child will not be harmed in any way by practising a few extra question types! Better safe than sorry!

Multiple Choice or Standard Format?

Our papers are primarily 'multiple-choice' format. Some nfer based tests are 'standard format' meaning there is no multiple choice answer sheet given. Your LEA will be able to tell you the format of the test you are taking.  Please feel free to use our materials even if your child is due to sit a standard paper because many of the question types will still be great practice. If your child is taking a standard format paper, make it clear that in the real test they will not be given a multiple choice answer sheet. Make sure you try some standard practice papers before the exam.

How can I trust the quality of the free papers?

The papers we are giving away are the same papers that we used to sell for over £100 on our website. They have already helped hundreds of children pass the 11 plus exam. Our questions are based on the nfer nelson style 11 plus exams and contain a higher percentage of the more difficult questions that your child is likely to encounter.
